It didn't work. Well, it sorta worked, but not really. Anyway, I'm not going to spend any more time on it than I have, because while I was doing it for you, Gentle Reader, it also took me away from you for too long.
What it is is a multimedia Flash presentation of how my family's trip to Philadelphia went. You see, there are a limited number of ways you can describe traveling with twin toddlers and a seven-year-old, and I feel like I've exhausted just about all of them. So within five minutes of returning home, I decided to do something different and downloaded the trial version of Adobe's Flash, an application that I HAVE NEVER USED OR EVEN SEEN IN USE BEFORE, and attempted to make something with it.
It goes without saying how stupid of an idea that was.
Anyway, I'm on Day 2 of working on it sans sleep and my girls have watched all the PBS Kids they can stomach, so it's time to call it a day. So without any further ado, you can click below to see what I cobbled together. Just a warning, it's LOUD and it plays right away, the mysteries of the autostart and pre-loader not having revealed themselves to me. It also loops endlessly, the video becoming more out-of-synch with the audio with each iteration, an especially humiliating feature.
Oh well, it's not like this blog isn't a parade of my failures already.
And for you lucky ones who don't know, those animals are Webkinz. Web-kinz. It's pretty much the only word Kathryn says now. Well that and the words "I want more" and sometimes "please".
Lila and Victoria visit Philadelphia . . .
Or should that be Lila and Victoria: Philadelphia SOS?

HILARIOUS!!! Really.
Got on a plane for the first time with our three boys (twins, 5,& nearly-2-year old) two weeks ago. We traveled cross-country from CT to CA for a family wedding. My husband & I met in the Peace Corps & have had all sorts of fantasies of traveling & living abroad with our fellows. Let's just say, those fantasies will remain fantasies after this trip.... Ahhh, we could have added to your soundtrack.

That was just too funny. The screaming is exactly my twins. That's why we don't take them anywhere. My hubby had an overnight in Philly yesterday. He took a long walk around the Liberty Bell and other areas before heading back to his hotel.

It seems weird that you have three of the same kid...

JP, I was going to say the same thing. Freaky.

Memories! One trip for us, 3 kids, Reptile/Snake House at the Phila Zoo, one kid started to scream right there, terrified of the snakes, and kept it up for the rest of the damn day. Maybe he's still upset about it, 20 years later.

That was awesome! You've inspired me to check out Adobe Flash! Now I can blame you when I go for days on end with no sleep.

That was hillarious!!!
I loved the soundtrack.
Have to say the crying scared the hell out of my twin boys (5). My one who is autistic is still walking around with his hands covering his ears telling me NOT to click on that again.
We have had trips like that. I remember one trip when the boys were around eight months old driving home from Philly (normally a twenty minute drive) where we got stuck in traffic. Grid-lock traffic. Couldn't even move to the shoulder of the road. And the boys were not just crying - they were wailing, both at the top of their lungs. I remember finally getting off the highway, pulling into a Burger King parking lot, and figuring out a way to nurse them together without my oversized nursing pillow for the very first time. Got some strange looks from the people going through that drive-thru. Aaahhh...memories! :)

Love it.
Strangely comforting, since for the past 4 days I've been flat out with strep throat while with a double ear-infected toddler and a rash covered 6 month old. Surely, you had it worse. My two thankfully do not know what Webkinz are.
