Dear The Dad,
I have 2 yr old twin girls and I'm having a hard time figuring out what to dress them up as for Halloween this year. I was wondering if you had any suggestions?
Sincerely, Elvira
Dear Elvira,
I have it on high authority that the hot theme for twins this year will be buddy cop TV shows, so the Looky, Daddy! team of fashionistas have scoured the Internet for the hippest costumes for your girls this year. Here are our three favorites, modeled by Lila and Victoria.
Hope this helps,
The Dad

OMG - Cagney and Lacey!
We don't even need costumes!

t-o-t-a-l-l-y hysterical !!! Well done.

Ohhhh yeah. My wife keeps threatening to use our older kids' candy corn costumes from two years ago or doing the thing one/thing two thing, but now I got it. She won't be able to say no if all the other twins are doing it. Here's my idea for the old school buddy cop theme. If we let their hair grow and dye Dean's dark brown, we'll be all set. Now if I can only find a 70's toddler clothing store...
Sweeeet!
I just have to say that it took me an insanely long time to figure out how to post the photo as a hyperlink but damn, I'm good!

Cagney's got boogers. Or is that Lacey?

Now it's clear how you've been wiling away the sad hours when L&V are in preschool.

I can't remember if the blonde was Cagney or Lacey, but whoever it is, she needs a hankey.

True to style, C & L always showed a little vulnerability, but never let a little snot get in the way of solving the crime.

O.k. the Dad, you realize you are SO showing your age here. Have you not seen a t.v. since 1987? (Or maybe for the last 8 Kathryn years it's only been tuned to fuzzy characters with whiny voices!) Thanks for the laugh (and the memories)!

Is it wrong that i did not know the TV show theme you have here until I read your comments.
I so need a life.

It's strange...I never remember Christine Cagney's nose running quite so much.

Hmmm....I seem to recall that Cagney had a slight drinking problem so she might have been "jonesing" when that particular shot was taken.

Oh my f-ing god.
I'm not sure what to do with those visual images, but now they're burned onto the inside of my corneas and there's nothing I can do about it.

I came from the era of Lethal Weapon. Maybe one of the girls could get a really good tan and go as Danny Glover, and the other could learn some ethnic slurs and go as Mel Gibson?

Check out Victoria's ankles in the Miami Vice shot. Wow.

Thanks for the laugh. Great photos,so this is what you do while the twins are at preschool...

Two things.
1. When I first saw that last photo, I thought it was Starsky & Hutch. Which would also be a great costume, if it came with chest hair.
2. I want a costume for Jake and the Fatman. Which tells you how old I am.

The Squeaker and I are going as pirate and parrot this Halloween!
But I like the idea of 'buddy' movies... maybe Tango and Cash? Oh, wait! Addison and Hayes! Wow, there's a reference....

Tango & Cash and Lethal Weapon were on the list to do (as was Running Scared, the best buddy cop movie ever--Do you know what Deuteronomy is?). Jake and the Fat Man I would have never thought of and Moonlighting was nixed at the very beginning because Bruce Willis has way to much forehead.
Sadly, though, I couldn't finish any more than three because I ended up spending almost all my time on a not-too-well-thought-through version of Turner and Hooch.

Oooh, Moonlighting. That's a good one! I loved that show, which is kinda weird considering I'm 26 and that show was off the air HOW MANY YEARS AGO??? I loved the office parties.
I'm trying to think up something really cool for the girls' costumes, but they'll probably end up being fairies for the second year running. At least they'll match their daddy.
PS - love the sideburns. it's a nice touch.

Did I just misspell wierd? weird? wierd?
Posted by: loren | September 20, 2007 at 11:30 AM
really very creepy actually.
charlie's angels so kathyrn can join in the fun & you can be the voice of Charlie?
Power puff girls, again to include kathryn?
Posted by: cindy | September 20, 2007 at 12:08 PM
oooh, yeah! Charlie's Angels... a bell-bottomed pantsuit on Kathryn and zip-up onesies with bling for the twins. Or how about the A-Team? That way The Dad can dress up (and not have to stand in the bushes as the "voice"). Faceman? Howling Mad? Or Hannibal? http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0084967/

note I didn't give The Dad the option of Mr. T's character, B.A. He'd have too much fun with it and steal the light from the girls!
