From the oft-forgotten files of the Weekend Weblink, because it never occurs to me that some of you might have more free time than me.
Nobody Here (sent in by mommy24x7--This one could keep you going for hours.)
Or if you need a little more kiddie exploitation in your diversions, and who doesn't, check out this short (and this one) from Will Farrell and Pearl. (sent in by Anne Prince--Not safe for work or kids)

Ack! The second episode of BBC Radio's Energy Swap came and went while I was off frolicing in the Midwest. While I am saddened that I missed it, and subsequently missed presenting it to you, Gentle Reader, I am not too terribly disappointed. It turns out that part three is the most important show of the lot. It is the one that features my dad.
Give it a listen, and just after minute seven, listen for the introduction of Texan "energy visionary", Jim Sargent. That's my dad. He's in this show because of a home he built just outside of Dallas. After raking Texans over the coals for their extravagant energy wastefulness, the good folks at the BBC present a tour of my dad's Zero Energy House he built a few years back.
My dad has been a home builder for countless years. The first home he built was about thirty years ago. He built it out in the middle of a field near Waxahachie, Texas. It sold, so he built another. That one didn't sell, so we had to move into it. Then he built more and thankfully each one of them sold, saving us from becoming nomadic gypsies, building and moving, building and moving, my brother and I teased at each new location.
At some point, my dad's houses started to become something special. While other builders were focused on facades and interior design, my dad studied building science. He got permission from his buyers to monitor their electricity usage and learned what made houses energy efficient. By the time I was in high school, he was building houses that could be heated and cooled for less than a dollar a day. Now he's building ones that produce as much power as they consume. If you've never had the opportunity to watch an electric meter run backwards, I assure you, it is an awesome sight.
Energy Swap, part 3 on BBC Radio 4
As before, this link will only be live for about one week. Fame, apparently, is fleeting.

BBC Radio has broadcast the first of a three part series called Energy Swap. In it, a British energy-conscious family is swapped for a week with an almost willfully wasteful Texan family. It's not my typical weekend weblink fare. It is neither short (30 minute runtime) nor funny (not even when the Texan father claims that mankind is playing no part in global warming), but my weekend weblink it is. I'll explain why later.
The BBC claims the link will be active for only about seven days, so let me know if you try it and it's no longer working.

Buried back in my archives was a new comment I thought deserved front page treatment as a weekend weblink. It's really all about the last few seconds.

This week's weblink was sent in by alert reader Crystal in Houston, who writes:
Found these short films last night while cruising YouTube......thought they were HILARIOUS and right up your "humor alley".
Well, Crystal, I did enjoy the videos, plus ever since The Mom read your email, too, she has been delighting the whole family with non-stop references to my "humor alley". Thanks a bundle!

I don't know what was up with me and the comments yesterday. Thank you all for going along with it. I do want to say that I read each and every comment that appears on this site. Religiously. I don't respond to most because my caseworker has asked that I try to remain in the same room as my girls, so I usually read the comments way too late, but I do read them. And thank you for making this blog a community. Just please stop calling me and hanging up. It's not funny anymore.

I'm so going to win this contest.
Weekend Weblink
A webcomic from Natalie Dee. I've read it 72 times and I still think it's funny.
Make that 73. And, yes, it comes in a t-shirt. And yes, my birthday is only 5 months away.
