At least now I know Kathryn and I have something in common--I can't tell those two apart either. At all.

Lovely post - twitchy smile and all!

I love this! It sounds like it was a great adventure with the naked masses (that didn't sound quite right).

You can make anything sound interesting can't you?

Loved the idea of Kathryn trying to help and the "naked masses" in the backseat.

I can just picture them all bundled up...thrilled with all the fun they had.

Long time reader, first time commenter. Thank you for your blog, my friends and Google Reader said I would love you. They know me so well.

So many great lines and bits worthy of highlighting, I don't know where I would begin. You are back in rare form.

But your biggest accomplishment is somehow making me want to visit The Surliest Orchard On Earth.

There are so many things I love about this post that I can't name any of them.

You poor man. The grim reality you seem to have been living comes through in your writing. I hope things have gotten better!

Aww, what an adorable story.

-snickers at "vice presidents" line-

She doesn't try telling them apart? xD

How amusing. Sounds like they had a great day.

Perfect. Really, you captured it all. We managed to escape apple picking this year. Blueberry picking is much worse though. They eat SO MANY MORE than they put in the buckets and then, well, black poop for a week!

Went apple picking today with my mom and GRANDchildren - had a great time! Beautiful views of the valley!!! Read the history of the orchard from the maskers website - it gave us all an appreciation of what it must have taken for the original owner to plant all of those trees.

Happy memories of apple picking with Marlon, Brandon and Baba!
